The judicial process surrounding the death of Diego Armando Maradona has begun, with accusations involving several health professionals who were in charge of the former footballer's care. The Prosecutor's Office points to psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, nurse Ricardo Almirón, clinical doctor Pedro Pablo Di Spagna, among others, for alleged "simple homicide with eventual intent."
The accusation against 40-year-old Cosachov centers on having neglected Maradona's medication intake, blaming the deceased for the decisions he made. For his part, Ricardo Almirón, one of Maradona's nurses, is said to have been negligent in his care, as well as Gisela Madrid, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
Pedro Pablo Di Spagna, a 52-year-old doctor, is indicted for not properly monitoring the health of the Argentine star and for not closely following his evolution. Additionally, his minimal presence in overseeing Maradona at the Olivos clinic is questioned.
Regarding Leopoldo Luque, the former player's primary doctor, he is accused of not informing Maradona's daughters about his health status and allegedly falsifying a signature on a medical history request. He is also accused of downplaying severe symptoms of the patient.
In the case of Agustina Cosachov, she is accused of falsifying a medical certificate for a visit that never occurred. Furthermore, it has been mentioned that after Maradona's last surgery, a prepaid medical company provided care services in the Tigre country club.
The start of the oral trial has brought the accused to the bench, where they face serious charges for their alleged responsibility in Maradona's death. The accusations point to various forms of negligence and lack of care in the medical attention provided to the Argentine idol.
